Gunman Detained Outside of the Gorge Has Been Released on Bail
The gunman who was detained outside of Bass Canyon has been released on bail.
The gunman detained outside the Gorge on Friday has been released on bail only a couple of days later. The suspect was arrested with multiple pistols and an unknown substance after a police report was filed about his “plans to commit a mass shooting” at Bass Canyon.
The official report from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office stated that ” Jonathan Moody was arraigned yesterday Grant County District court on one count of possession of a dangerous weapon and one count of unlawful carrying or handling of a weapon. He pleaded not guilty, and his bail was set at 10,000$.” The Sheriff’s Office also stated that “while the investigation is not finished, what we can say is that we now don’t feel that his intent was to cause a mass shooting.”
Bass Canyon is a three-day festival at the stunning Gorge Amphitheater in Washington, featuring acts from artists such as Kayzo, Riot Ten, Ghastly, Subtronics, and of course, Excision. This year’s edition was one to remember, hopefully not for the wrong reasons.
What was supposed to be a memorable moment full of music and excitement could’ve taken a wrong turn was it not for the people who spoke up and the police who took action. Although the EDM community thought the suspect was planning a mass shooting, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office came to the conclusion that mass violence was not his intent.
Thankfully no one was injured but it really shows how speaking up can make a difference. As the Grant County Sheriff’s Office said in their statement “We remind everyone: If you see something, say something…”
The investigation is still ongoing even though the suspect was released. Moody’s next court date is scheduled for September 8th as the case continues.
