Fans Share Video of Fatal Stage Collapse at Medusa Festival

Terrifying winds at this year’s Medusa Festival injure many and claim the life of one young man.

Severe winds collapsed a stage at Medusa Festival killing one man and injuring several others. The six-day electronic music festival took place near Valencia, Spain hosting sets from artists David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Afrojack, Carl Cox, and more.

The main entrance and main stage of the Medusa Festival collapsed due to extreme gusts of winds. It was a little after 4:00 am at the time of the incident while DJ Miguel Serna was performing for over 50,000 people in attendance. About 40 people were transported to the hospital including three people with life-threatening injuries.

“It was a tense few minutes, I’ve never experienced anything like it before,” Serna shared on Instagram. “The tragedy happened just at the end of my session on the main stage, just below it, which was the most affected (area). It was a few moments of horror, I am still in shock.”

Attendees shared videos on Twitter of the devastating aftermath and debris flying through the wind.

After the terrible accident, festival organizers officially canceled the event stating that the “adverse and unexpected weather conditions that are expected to continue throughout the day oblige us morally and out of responsibility to put an end to our 2022 edition. The Medusa Festival management would like to express our deepest and sincere condolences to the families and friends affected by the fatal consequences last night.”

At this time, it is unknown if Medusa Festival will be returning next year following the tragedies that took place.  For now, the community mourns the loss and sends their deepest condolences to the family of the young man who lost his life.
