Vylana Marcus Explores the Divine With Powerful Single “Phoenix”

Vylana’s new track marks the first release ahead of her forthcoming album, ‘Goddess Rise.’

Combining elements of spoken word, thoughtful lyricism, and powerful vocals, Vylana Marcus delights listeners with her brand new single, “Phoenix.” The track is produced and composed by acclaimed violinist, Laura Escudé. Vylana’s majestic vocal expression fits like a puzzle into the song’s elegant yet mighty instrumentals.

“Phoenix” is an audible manifestation of a journey from pain to liberation. The track draws from the ancient future tribal rhythms of breakout producer Savej to evoke a spiritual, moving mood. Hearing the track for the first time awakens a commanding energy in one’s soul, as Vylana’s suffering and triumphs are carefully transmuted through her voice.

Hardly defined in the scope of music, “Phoenix” resonates more with medicine, than anything. That’s because Vylana Marcus is a medicine woman, a sound healer, and a “permission slip.” The meaning behind the latter title stems from the permission for her listeners to indulge in the full breadth of their being–to embrace this era of absolute transformation, and for permission to simply be oneself.

As an artist, Vylana operates with the mission to encourage growth of individual and universal consciousness. She’s dedicated her life to such efforts. Her passion for doing so is apparent with “Phoenix” and can be expected for her upcoming solo album, ‘Goddess Rise.’

In addition to being an enchantress of sound, Vylana is a Polynesian dancer. She’s performed on well-known stages like ARKADIA Festival. She’s also impressively worked alongside industry frontrunners such as Jon Hopkins for “A Gathering of the Tribe” as well as Liquid Bloom, East Forest, Porangui, Eric Zang, and her husband Aubrey Marcus for the album ‘Remembrance.’

“I feel incredibly blessed to have found friendship, mentorship, and partnership with some of the greatest artists in the world today. With this album I feel that I really found my own true artistic expression, and I am humbled to be the vessel for this transmission.” – Vylana Marcus

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
