Drumcode Festival Cancels Just 5 Weeks out Due to “Problems With Pollen”
Drumcode Festival Cancels Festival Plans For It’s Second Year In A Row Due To “Difficulties” With Pollen
Drumcode Festival recently announced they will not be hosting their upcoming festival in Malta due to problems with Pollen. The festival was scheduled for September 15 – 19 and was supposed to include over 100 hours of music from more than 50 distinct techno DJs and producers.
On August 9, Drumcode founder, Adam Beyer, took to Instagram to announce the reason for the festival’s abrupt cancellation. The post accused Pollen of “serious failings” and a “lack of communication” that forced them to cancel the event.
As previously mentioned, the festival had over 50 DJs scheduled to play throughout the island on different heritage stages. Some of the many artists included Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, DJ Rush, Joris Voorn, Maceo Plex, and Monika Kruse.
Pollen is a startup events and travel company who specialize in organizing large-scale festivals. The company also helps manage venue charges, ticketing and accommodations. In addition, several news outlets have reported that Pollen hasn’t paid their staff and “is on the brink of collapse.”
“We are heartbroken to have to give you the news that, due to accumulation of unresolved problems with Pollen,” Drumcode wrote on Instagram. “We no longer have confidence in their ability to deliver the rigorous high standards of safety and customer experience we demand of an event presented under our name.”
Furthermore, Drumcode wrote that they “have received no money from Pollen for the event.” Therefore, Drumcode was not in the position to offer refunds to ticket holders, instead sharing Pollen’s customer email contacts. Looking ahead, there has not been an announcement for Drumcode’s future events. Hopefully, with a good partner and careful planning, the festival will come back stronger and better.
