Virtual Riot’s Wife Slams EDM Scene as “Fakest Thing in World” Amid Polygamy Drama
Virtual Riot’s wife explains the ingenuity that drives the relationships that EDM artists cultivate with those around them and the dangerous effects of drugs and fame.
Earlier in the summer, Virtual Riot’s wife, Johanna, shared a series of Instagram posts alluding to serious topics such as drug use, physical abuse, animal abuse, and more. At the time, she and her husband were involved in a polyamorous relationship with three other people. Two of the members were another couple, dubstep DJ Lektrqiue and a woman named Ava Clover. Also involved was Johanna’s boyfriend, Jojo.
Lektrique’s wife, Ava Clover became the point of discussion after Johanna publicly accused her of abusing her dog, Monkey Clover, and of pressuring Virtual Riot into using various drugs, including Ketamine. It’s apparent that Ava had been close to Virtual Riot for years, as she was working as his tour manager and eventually became involved romantically with the DJ.
Johanna’s claims seemed to have come from a place of concern for her husband, Virtual Riot. However, after making severe allegations against Ava Clover on her Instagram story, Johanna later retracted many of those statements, claiming Ava is not abusing her dog nor addicted to drugs.
Neither Ava nor Virtual Riot commented publicly regarding Johanna’s statements, however, the drama ensues on Johanna’s Instagram story. Since the story first unfolded on social media in early May, Johanna has been selling Virtual Riot’s clothes on Instagram. She also removed her husband’s Instagram handle from her bio, alluding to a riff in their relationship.
At the same time, Virtual Riot and Ava Clover have been pictured spending a lot of one-on-one time. The two celebrated their two-year anniversary a few weeks ago, and Ava has been busy sharing photos with Virtual Riot at shows and festivals around the country. It’s unclear where Ava’s relationship with her husband, Lektrique stands.
Amid this drama, Johanna shared a series of Instagram stories about the “US EDM Scene” being “one of the fakest things on Earth.” She clarifies that she’s not referring to fans, but the artists, and that the industry is being corrupted by heavy drug abuse. She goes on to explain how people, especially women, use DJs for access to money, drugs, and status. On the same note, she describes how drugs can negatively impact artists, and in some cases, lead to death.
