Best Dance and Electronic Spots in Atlanta 2022
New to Atlanta and love electronic music, but don’t know where to find it?
Electronic music has always had a home in Atlanta. No other city has a more iconic chant than “ATL HOE” and it is almost guaranteed you’ll hear it at every show. Atlanta is a popular stop for artists touring along the east coast from New York to Miami and the electronic community has continued to double over the years.
The city is home to heavy hitters like Nitti Gritti, Herobust, ATLiens, and Drinkurwater. Though Atlanta may not be known for its huge clubs, there is a venue for all genres big and small. Here are a few of the best places and hidden gems to catch the artists you love.
District Atlanta
One of the most iconic clubs in ATL with its floating sphere lights is District Atlanta with an oval-style shaped set-up. Catering to a melting pot of music preferences, District hosts a mix of genres from dubstep to house to techno. Usually, the club hosts heavier tunes on Friday and more house vibes on Saturdays.
With a recent upgrade in production, the new LED screen behind the DJ booth gives ravers the ultimate visual experience on the dance floor. Pro-tip: If you know it’s going to be a packed show, splurge a bit for spacious VIP balcony views and private bathrooms.
Believe Music Hall
Believe Music Hall was an old church gutted and renovated into one of the most popular spots for artists to tour when coming to Atlanta. Here catch everything from the biggest trap, dubstep, melodic, and bass house artists in their main room and second basement stage area. Be warned the crowd will be younger as this is the only permanent 18+ spot in the city.
Pro-tip: Many people don’t know the upstairs balcony is open to general admission and there is a separate bathroom open to everyone. Bonus tip: Save a few dollars when purchasing a ticket, and compare the show costs of the artist in the main room and basement room for the cheaper one. You will have access to the whole venue.
Domaine
If you are looking for more of a traditional club vibe, the original Club Opera located in Midtown was bought out and rebranded into what we know now as Domaine. Unfortunately, their debut was right before COVID hit, but this summer the club is making major noise hosting big names like Loud Luxury, James Hype, and Wax Motif. The inside of the club is chic and completely updated inside from the furniture to its massive stage production.
The Eastern
The most recent venue to open in Atlanta is The Eastern in 2021. This huge concert venue has staggered styled platforms all around making it easy for attendees to have enough room to dance and easily see the stage. This venue offers 18+ shows and artists Griz and LSDREAM have performed stellar sets here so far.
The Coca-Cola Roxy
The Roxy located at The Battery home of the Braves stadium has been booking more electronic shows as of late. The rectangular-style venue is lined with bars along the outside for easy access and the speaker system is of some of the highest quality in town. Pro-tip: Upstairs has seating open to general admission so get there early because it is first come first serve.
Misfits
Misfits is simply a gem tucked away with the other popular square of dive bars near Buckhead Village, Atlanta. This little bar has an intimate space that hosts big sound from dubstep and particularly riddim artists.
You will be able to stand just feet away from the DJ and when you look around you know the people there truly love the artist playing making the vibes immaculate. Pro-tip: If you catch the show announcement early enough, Misfits will even offer a select number of free admission tickets.
