Maddy O’Neal Gives Fans Taste of Upcoming Album with New Single Alongside Balkan Bump

Maddy O’Neal teams up with trumpeter Balkan Bump to combine their unique styles into “Follow Me” 

“Follow Me” is the second song to be released off Maddy O’Neal‘s new album, which is slated to be released in September. This upcoming album comes six years after her debut album which was released in 2016 and followed by four mind-blowing EPs.

“Follow Me” gives fans a taste of what they can expect from the new album by combining Maddy O’Neal‘s bass-forward style with Balkan Bump’s jazzy upbeat horns. O’Neal said “Horn sections and electronic music definitely have a sweet spot in my heart,” which she has clearly shown in this collaboration with Balkan Bump. This track shows fans the artists’ talent of merging two different styles into a euphoric and upbeat funky song.

She brings her own signature future bass style which is filled with intricate synth design, bubbly electro melodies, and upbeat basslines which makes it easy for her to mix other styles into her own. O’Neal has collaborated with many artists over the years like Pretty Lights, Big Gigantic, CloZee, and The Floozies so she is not new to combining different styles into huge tracks. 

Maddy O’Neal released the first single off her album back in May called “Never Fades” which was a great introduction to what she has in store for the rest of the album. “Never Fades” holds true to her style of future bass with deep wubs followed by glittery synths and soft vocals from Sink. It’s only right that “Never Fades” is followed by “Follow Me” as O’Neal brings her fans through a journey of all her hard work leading up to this upcoming album.

Maddy O’Neal and Balkan Bump truly delivered a futuristic funky banger with “Follow Me” their first-ever collaboration. The single also features Home Malone as the vocalist whose smooth almost silky voice melds the deeper basslines into the vibrant upbeat horns with an almost reggae-like vibe. 

Maddy O’Neal will be previewing her album at shows across the United States this summer playing at festivals like Secret Dreams, Lollapalooza, Lost Lands, Same Same But Different, and many more. Her live performances help tell her personal story of growing up in a musically diverse household listening to rock and roll and soul vinyl. She features many different styles throughout her sets anywhere from deep dirty low tempo bass to midtempo melodic bass tracks and vibey almost disco-like tunes.
