Fans Battle Over Bassnectar Merch at Summer Festivals
Bassnectar stirs up more heat amongst people over his merch at festivals.
As the festival season continues to propel forward this summer, some unique conversations have been happening in the space. Most notably, electronic music fans seem to be heavily divided on Bassnectar’s hints at returning to music.
The discussion sparked when tweets began to flurry about people wearing Bassnectar merch at festivals such as Bonnaroo and Electric Forest. Some attendees said they “Should have brought tomatoes to throw at Bassnectar merch.” Among other not-so-positive statements, some pointed out their despise for people who continue to wear Bassnectar’s merch and neglect his controversial past. In line with that, a significant discussion was why festivals were even selling his merch in 2022.
On the other side of the spectrum, some die-hard fans of Bassnectar choose to come to the side of the producer and continue to show their support. Bassnectar’s legacy is something that is dear to his community of fans, with many having tattoos of the signature “bassdrop” logo and incorporating his work in many aspects of their lives. This has allowed many to choose to ignore the allegations and continue to sport the producer’s graphics. Additionally, considering the producer’s 10-year run at Electric Forest, some fans believe that it is a no-brainer that the event would sell his merch.
Bassnectar has been heavily discussed in the media over the past year due to his multiple sexual assault allegations against women. He now has a trial pending for 2023 that is currently in its discovery phase.
With many festivals still left for the summer, there is sure to be a continued debate on the support of Bassnectar. To read more about Bassnectar’s case and his performances happening across the country, click here.
