Hangout Festival Fights Through Three Days of Rain Without Cancellation
The annual Alabama music festival, Hangout Festival, finishes the weekend out strong despite the rainy weather.
Hangout Festival was held this past weekend from May 20th through the 22nd with rain, sand, and fun. The festival was held on the beaches of Alabama’s Gulf Shore. But, despite being in a subtropical paradise, festival-goers didn’t get as much sunshine as they may have expected. Instead, the event thrived through a rainstorm without cancellation.
Not only were the attendees getting soaked from the downpour, but the performers too. In fact, Megan Thee Stallion, Jack Harlow, and Tame Impala all played their entire sets in the pouring rain, demonstrating their adaptability and talent even in an unpredicted turn of events.
A lot of fans seemed to love the being under the downpour. Some festival attendees even posted pictures thoroughly drenched, immersing themselves completely in the experience.
One attendee who posted a picture at the event captioned it, “@jackharlow putting us in first class in a rain storm” talking about his fun experience in the rain that night. Another even hilariously said “That rain brought on the real sex appeal.”
Not every performer had to play their sets under the pouring skies. Most of the day involved sunshine and beaches as expected.
Other performers who lucked out of getting drenched while performing were Halsey, Post Malone, Flo Milli, Louis the Child, Oliver Tree, Zedd, Lil Yachty, Remi Wolf, Sidepiece, Role Model, Lucii, Ericoda, and many other artists across musical genres.
Besides the rain, another unpredicted event was Doja Cat canceling her performance due to surgery on her throat. The superstar had to do this urgently to get operated on for the protection of her vocal cords and health.
However, Griz ultimately ended up stepping in for the multihyphenate with a crowd-pleasing performance.
Additionally, with the recent events sweeping across the United States in terms of access to abortion and the laws around abortion both Megan Thee Stallion and Pheobe Bridgers made on-stage statements in support of access to abortion.
The festival is scheduled to happen again next year, and now fans can pull up with confidence knowing that even some rain won’t stop the party.
