EDC Evacuates The Main Stage During Seven Lions’ Set

EDC Las Vegas was forced to evacuate fans from the main stage, Kinetic Field on Friday night during Seven Lions’ set.

A festival in the middle of the desert, EDC Las Vegas is subject to extreme weather conditions. Due to severe wind on Friday evening, the festival shut down Kinetic Field for safety reasons. Festival staff also removed high-hanging objects that potentially posed a threat when subjected to these high winds.

In addition to the high wind, the Clark County Department of Environmental and Sustainability noted that elevated southwesterly winds have exacerbated dust levels from nearby dry lake beds. Thankfully, the wind eventually subsided and Kinetic Field, along with other impacted stages, was permitted to open back up. A short while later, Seven Lions continued his set which some fans say was his “best set ever.”

One fan recounts their experience, “I was unaware the stage was shut down. When I was walking to kinetic field for your set I was so heartbroken at setting the announcement the stage was closed. My gut told me to just keep on walking to the front in case you came out…and you did! I was so lucky to be near the front because everyone had left. But as soon as you came out the crown appeared within 10 seconds and packed the stage!!! Thank you for an amazing night and set!!!”

Thankfully for Seven Lions fans, the weather did not completely ruin the night. Artists like Dom Dolla and Porter Robinson also played sets at Kinetic Field that evening, marking a historic Friday night at EDC Vegas.

Although the news of the dangerous wind may be shocking to some, it’s not something EDC is unfamiliar with or unprepared for. The festival’s 2019 edition saw a similar evacuation protocol due to high winds. Many fans were even forced to temporarily evacuate the festival in 2019. In 2012 the festival experienced a similar issue.

Seven Lions’ wife and girlfriend who professionally go by Gem & Tauri also played the festival’s main stage on Friday. These three are an unstoppable power throuple that continue to dominate the dance music scene.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
