Diplo Denied Seats at the Billboard Music Awards

Diplo, the platinum and chart-topping producer and DJ was refused his seat at this year’s Billboard Music Awards.

Thomas Wesley Pentz, professionally known as Diplo, took to Instagram this past week to discuss his experience at the Billboard Music Awards. 

The artist, who has charted on Billboard and has received multiple gold or platinum records, says his seats were taken by seat fillers that refused to give them back to him.

“I went to Billboard awards 3 hours late because I was too busy surfing or whatever def missed the red (white) carpet and got to my seats and the seat fillers are there and they wouldn’t get up and I asked them if I could sit in front of them with london on the track and they were like “nah we don’t know who your are” at this point the commercial break is over and I’m kind of sitting on the floor, but I tried again I said seat fillers (they said they knew Diddy) “look you maybe don’t recognize me but here are my actual tickets” they look at my tickets and said ‘we don’t give a fuc we not moving.’”

Diplo also made a TikTok about the inconvenience and posted it on Twitter. Seeming to have found the whole thing a bit funny.

However, In a rather funny turn of events, Diplo details how he ended up leaving the award show to hang out with one of the security guards. 

“thank god London on the track had to tell them I was actually a celebrity but at this point it’s commercial break again and they were ready to beat my ass and security told me I could sit in the hall and then I saw oliver tree and I just left because he was trying so hard to dress “cool” or “edgy” and everyone was turning up so hard cause there’s free deleon tequila under the seats and I literally was looking like the cry filter on snapchat So I just went outside hung out with the security guard from Ecuador that said I could take a picture if I tagged her but I forgot her @.”

Hopefully next time Diplo can arrive early enough to not have his seats stolen, or at least gets them stolen by someone who knows who he is.
