Excision Launches Bass Music Initiative to Provide $100,000 to Underprivileged Producers

One of the biggest names in bass music cements his legendary status with this new initiative.

Everyone knows Excision is one of the most prominent figures in bass music today. But now, we can see that he has a great heart as well. In a recent Instagram post, Excision — real name Jeff Abel — shared the Excision Bass Music Initiative, which looks to give back to rising artists. 

Abel’s Excision Bass Music Initiative is pledging to give $10,000 to 10 underprivileged or underrepresented artists in Bass Music. Along with the funding will be support from some of Excision’s sponsors who will be offering an array of softwares and equipment for the selected winners. Some of the best in the business supporting this initiative consist of ​​KJ Sawka, Ableton, Kilohearts, Melda Production, and Xfer Records. 

“Talented artists who are spending the majority of their time working a job that isn’t their passion just to make ends meet are losing out to those who have the financial freedom to really focus on producing music. This inequality restricts the diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and styles that would greatly benefit the continued evolution of bass music (and electronic dance music as a whole).” – Excision 

The Bass Music Initiative is looking for applicants of all backgrounds who demonstrate commitment to producing and have already released music. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and identify with either an underprivileged or underrepresented community. 

Candidates can fill out the Google Form to answer questions about their work and vouch for why they believe they are a good fit for the initiative.
