Watch Headbangers Form Whirlpool at Excision’s Paradise Blue
This past weekend, festival attendees at Paradise Blue created a new meaning for a circle pit, forming a whirlpool at the resort’s pool.
A circle pit is a type of moshing in which people run in a circular motion around the edge of the pit. Moshing isn’t new for the Excision crowd, but forming a circle pit in a pool certainly is.
The inaugural edition of Paradise Blue took place in Cancun, Mexico from April 29th through May 2nd. Developed by the visionary behind Lost Lands and Bass Canyon, Excision, Paradise Blue is a Headbangers playground with a Caribbean twist. The festival enlisted some of the hottest acts in dubstep such as Dion Timmer, Sullivan King, Jantsen, and Subdocta, among others.
The three-day all-inclusive destination experience was held at the Four-Diamond Paradisus Resort and the luxurious Marriott resort. Paradise Blue featured three stages, the Beach Stage, Pool Stage, and Nexus Stage. Both the Beach Stage and Pool Stage were titled quite literally, and Headbangers had the opportunity to get down to their favorite artists at the beach and in the pool.
Excision played three sets over the weekend, two at the beach stage and one Excision Detox set at the Pool Stage. During Excision’s Pool Stage set, attendees were captured forming a whirlpool by moving in a circle pit fashion. They were splashing, spinning, and somehow managed to headbang at the same time.
Although the most captivating circle pit probably occurred during Excision’s Detox set, several other videos surfaced of the fan-made whirlpool throughout the weekend. Layz shared a video of another whirlpool during her Saturday set.
Next up for Excision is Bass Canyon in August and year five of Lost Lands. Although, anyone who wants to experience a circle pit whirlpool will have to wait until Paradise Blue 2023.
