Fans Troll Disco Donnie After Ubbi Dubbi Day 2 Cancelation

Disco Donnie had big plans for Ubbi Dubbi’s 2022 edition that were unfortunately cut short due to severe weather in the area.

As many festival-goers can recall, Ubbi Dubbi was the “first festival back” in 2021 when Covid-10 restrictions began to subside. Disco Donnie was dubbed a hero by many for reigniting festival season and putting live music back on the map. Well into 2021, many festivals followed suit and were able to return to a sense of normalcy.

However, Disco Donnie festivals also have a track record of cancelations due to weather. Sunset Music Festival’s infamous 2020 edition was canceled on the second day at the discretion of Florida’s Governor due to weather forecasts.

Labor Day weekend of last year, El Paso festival Freakizoid Robots was canceled due to health concerns by local authorities. Although weather and health concerns are always the root of these cancelations, fans continue to blame Disco Donnie for the mishaps. However, in all cases it’s clear Disco Donnie himself has done everything in his power to continue the show while still considering fan safety.

Just last weekend marked Ubbi Dubbi’s return to Fort Worth at Panther Island Pavilion. The first day of the festival saw major players like Seven Lions, Kaskade, Adventure Club, and more. Concerns about the following day’s weather were already being considered at the time. Well into the afternoon of day two, Disco Donnie and the Ubbi Dubbi staff in coordination with safety officials made the decision to cancel the remainder of the festival due to, “forecasted severe weather, hail, unsafe wind speeds, and lightning in the festival area.”

Disco Donnie himself issued a statement, “We tried everything to make it happen.  I just got off the phone with the National Weather Service and it wouldn’t be safe to do a show outside tonight. Ravers in 60 MPH wind gusts, lightning, and hail is no bueno.”

Replies by fans made it apparent how devastated they were to miss headlining acts like Tiesto and Zeds Dead, however, Disco Donnie and his team did a stellar job moving many of the day-two artists to indoor venues in the Fort Worth area.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
