What So Not put out a statement on Instagram regarding the details of this most recent and enigmatic endeavor. “I’ve started a new project… For the first time in my career, I’m releasing something that is NOT dance music. It’s with a dear friend of mine, Daniel Johns, and you’ll hear the first of it this week. Pre-save it now as part of Dan’s new album.”
What So Not and Daniel John’s collaboration, a single on Daniel’s full-length LP “FutureNever,” went live on Friday, April 22nd and is now on Spotify, among other platforms. with more than two decades of experience in the music industry, Daniel is no novice to this rodeo.
He is the former band member and front man of “Silberchair,” and still plays as the other half to “The Dissociatives,” a group with Paul Mac, as well as “Dreams” with Luke Steele. He dropped his first solo LP “Talk” in 2015 and has been grinding as a soloist ever since.
Music aside, Daniel recently shared an extremely personal and brave story via social media about his journey to rehab. “My drinking has become a bigger problem than I even realized, and how I have used it to help numb a range of deeper psychological issues that I have been living with since childhood.” Although the music industry can be heaps of fun, when it rains it pours.
It’s easy to get caught up in the thick of abuse, debauchery, and recklessness. When artists like Daniel come forward about their experiences navigating uncertain waters, it normalizes the struggles of many.
