Four Years After The Tragic Loss Of EDM DJ and Superstar, Avicii, Exron Music Celebrates The Talented Musician’s Life With His Top Five Greatest Performances

With a long history of health problems, hospitalizations and surgeries, Avicii took his life at the young age of 28 on April 20, 2018. Four years later, Exron continues celebrates his extraordinary life by taking a look at Avicii’s top five most memorable performances.

#1: In 2016, Avicii performed his last set at Ultra in Miami, Florida, before announcing that he would be going on an indefinite hiatus from live shows. The set he played would be considered one of his greatest of all time because his intro edit. Avicii premiered his song “Without You” to the Miami crowd, as well as dropping his epic remix of Dizzee Rascal‘s “Dirtee Cash,” and ending the set with “A Sky Full Of Stars.”

#2: 2015 was one of those years where Avicii truly fired up the crowd at the great T In The Park festival. The electric crowd fist-pumped and bounced to every single beat of Avicii’s legendary set. He showcased an eclectic group of artists, from “Return of the Mack” artist Mark Morrison to some songs from Disclosure. Avicii then went on to play his Chris Martin collaboration, “Heaven,” which was a treat because the song did not commercially air until 4 years after this special debut. Avicii also played the fan-favorite, “Stay With You” featuring Mike Posner.

#3: In 2012, Avicii travelled to Great Britain to headline the Saturday night show at the legendary Creamfields festival. With thousands weathering the literal storm to witness the Swedish DJ headlining on the Horizon Stage, the set was so exciting that BBC Radio 1 promoted it to their Essential Mix. This catapulted Avicii into the scarce upper echelons of producers that have been featured on the British mix series.

#4: Ultra has had so many great headliners throughout the years, but one of the most memorable years had to be 2013. With his album True on the way, Avicii wanted to debut the new mix of songs that was set to be on the album. While the audience felt confused by the new blues and country songs he was playing, it eventually led to him having the most streamed song in music history with “Wake Me Up” featuring Aloe Blacc.

#5: One of the greatest EDM sets of all time, Avicii rang in the New Year big time at New York’s Pier 94. The entire set ran a whopping 3 hours, with  Avicii’s classic “Sunshine Spectrum” edit, and a range of electronic tracks from various artists, such as Steve Angello, Dirty South, and Daft Punk. Known as absolutely one of Avicii’s best sets, it is definitely worth a watch if you haven’t done so already.

As a DJ, Avicii headlined festivals like Ultra, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Tomorrowland. He was the first major EDM star that was able to get worldwide recognition. He rose to the top ranks quickly, and just as he was reaching his prime, it ended. Avicii took his own life in April 2018, due to his worsening health problems. While his life was short-lived, he is still a reigning king within the music world.
