Porter Robinson Plays First Electro-House Set in Years During Dublin Tour Stop

Porter Robinson continues with his international tour, making a memorable pitstop in Dublin.

Porter Robinson’s current tour, celebrating the release of his most recent album “Nurture,” has been going strong all of 2022. Recently, Porter played the infamous Red Rocks, a natural-made arena nestled in the canyons of Colorado. Shortly after playing a two-night set at the legendary venue, Porter traveled to Europe to continue his tour.

At one of Porter Robinson’s tour pitstops in the UK, Porter announced that he would play a particularly special set that evening. “I’m going to DJ an opening set of older electro / house / Dutch house / clubby 2010’s music at the Dublin Nurture show… Why: I’m in the mood for that kind of music lately. I might be ass at this, I haven’t played this style in a long time…”

Although the opening to the set was older EDM and house as promised, the remainder of the show was Porter’s spectacular and moving Nurture set, which has amassed him considerable attention and unflagging fan loyalty.

The show in Dublin was especially intimate, with an intense crowd of super fans that sang along to each word, basking in Porter’s signature dreamy style. The performance was quirky, touching, and heartwarming. At one point during the show, Porter took a break from DJing and brought his tech crew on stage to assist with the construction of a crisp sandwich. Porter then proceeded to scarf the ‘wich down, to uproarious crowd enthusiasm of course.

Porter’s ‘Nurture’ album has received considerable attention for its unique style and moving melodies. By going against the grain of the trendy techno / trap house movement, Porter alienates both himself and his music in the best of ways. Almost every song on the album plays like a club lullaby, a piano soliloquy, and a diary page from Porter’s life, ripe with vulnerability and wisdom beyond his years.
