GG Magree Explores the Dark Parts of Love in Harrowing “Already Dead” Music Video
Australian producer and singer-songwriter GG Magree returns to Monstercat with “Already Dead” to harness dark feminine energy and express the introspective edges of love.
GG Magree teases her third rock-heavy album “Dichotomy” by leaning us further into her foundational rock influences and Courtney Love aesthetic with her hard-edged gritty vocals, guitar-driven power hooks, and vigorous drumming. In between the musical notes of GG’s punk-fueled power chords, you will feel the meditative release of her dark past, facing her innermost demons and self-inflicted heartbreak.
Love is pain, and pain is love. The light that shines through someone’s vulnerability is bred from the darkest parts of their soul. In collaboration with Director Janush, the pair tells an insufferable love story about GG trying to find a balance between the beautiful disturbance of pleasure and torture.
“Already Dead” gives us an inside look at why GG’s character’s relationships inevitably fail, with the love interests being portrayed by her best friend Alexandra Shipp and model Christian Tasiopoulos. The love and darkness she holds for both Shipp and Christian symbolize GG’s tangled web of her own dichotomy.
This music video forces an open-ended internal dialogue, connecting the subconscious mind and heart, to reflect on the body’s internalized perceptions of romantic and self-love. The singer’s vulnerability is recognized through the battle of becoming aware of her own self-destruction within codependent love while balancing the controversy and egotistic feelings of self-absorption and isolation.
GG Magree personally shares, “I think vulnerability is so hot and I’ve fallen in love with all of my “broken” parts. Love is the most addictive feeling in the world. It’s just two people fighting to feel alive”.
This punk bass queen continues to bring a pulse to punk in electronic music after hitting over 35 million streams on Spotify with her vocal debut on NGHTMARE & Zeds Dead’s song “Frontlines“. GG Magree’s unique punk rock and electronic-driven bass have launched her to selling out shows throughout the world! Having performed at major festivals, including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Firefly, and Ultra Music Festival, who knows what edge she will surprise us with on ‘Dichotomy’.
‘Dichotomy’ EP will be released May 19th on Monstercat.
