The String Cheese Incident Surprises Fans with Unexpected New EP ‘Into The Blue’
After A Five-Year Break, Jam Band, The String Cheese Incident, Returns With Their Brand-New EP, ‘Into The Blue.’
The bluegrass group, The String Cheese Incident, has returned to the music scene after a five year gap with 2017’s Believe. The band’s new album, Into the Blue, was penned by band member, Michael Kang, as a response to the tragic diagnosis of his mother’s pancreatic cancer. Instead of letting anger, sadness, among other overwhelming emotions be the main focus, Kung decided to focus on how brave and understanding his mother was of her situation.
The String Cheese Incident‘s new EP consists of four songs: Three original songs and one rendition of Genesis frontman, Peter Gabriel’s, 1977 debut single, “Solsbury Hill,” which opens the album up. “Hi Ho No Show” is filled with tons of energy, while the title track, “Into the Blue” radiates electricity. “Dragonfly” has a different feel to it, as it has a more affectionate elements to it. “Dragonfly” draws inspiration from R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe’s rendition of Richard Chamberland’s 1963 single, “All I Have To Do Is Dream.”
Like many other concerts and festivals, The String Cheese Incident had to reschedule tour dates that were originally slated for August 2021. Now with their latest surprise EP release, the jam band will kick off their 2022 touring season, starting with their first stop at Ting Pavilion in Charlottesville, VA on April 21st.
