Fans Protest 12th Planet Being Added To Festival Lineups
After being added to the Electric Forest and Forbidden Kingdom lineups, 12th Planet has faced backlash from fans over sexual assault allegations.
Although 12th Planet has responded to the sexual assault allegations made against him by EDM photographer Grim in December, some fans are still expressing their distaste for the artist. In the artist’s response, he noted this woman had “falsely accused” him of “mistreating her”. He went on to rehash the narrative from his perspective.
The artist did not address the incident until about one month after the claims were made. His reasoning for this is that he “didn’t want to draw attention to these bizarre and untrue claims.” However, the artist noted it soon became apparent that he could “no longer let this false narrative go unchallenged.” At the end of 2021, he began facing backlash in his career, as his name was pulled from Insomniac’s Orlando Invasion festival.
12th Planet’s response on Instagram is below:
Many dubstep fans were relieved to see 12th Planet address the allegations, even if it was a month after they were made. However, the artist continued faced backlash from some fans. Since seemingly clearing his name and being booked for major summer festivals, fans have expressed contempt.
Toward the end of March, Electric Forest added the artist to their diverse lineup. Then, the all-dubstep festival Forbidden Kingdom did the same. In both scenarios, fans spoke out against the respective festivals on Twitter.
At the same time, many fans have come to the artist’s defense, standing by his proclaimed innocence.
When Grim accused 12th Planet of sexual assault, she also accused Gammer of the same offense and Trampa of rape. Since the allegations were made, both Gammer and 12th Planet have denied them, however, Trampa has yet to make a public statement.
