YOOKiE Follows Filthy “GRiME SHiT” Release with Stacked Namesake “WOOKiE” EP

The New York brothers, YOOKiE, drop the highly-anticipated ‘WOOKiE’ EP on WAKAAN

After making their initial debut on WAKAAN earlier this year with lead single ‘GRiME SHiT,’ YOOKiE has returned with their riveting namesake EP, ‘WOOKiE.’ Over the course of four trap-inspired tracks, the New York brother duo craft minimalistic and inscrutable basslines to create just the right amount of grime.

The grime starts on track one with ‘ENTER THE MACHiNE.’ The almost lyricless track is entrancing and draws you into the rest of the EP.  It opens with cyber-robotic sounds and a voice whispering “Enter the machine,” which is the only lyric repeated throughout the song.

Following track one is ‘SEESAW’ which is a venture into the rap genre. Showcasing the duo’s confidence in their sound and craft. Lyrics like “If you not f*ckin with this, you a capper” seem to be a diss at critics and an assertion of their brand and talent.

‘KiLLA’ is the duo’s third track on the EP. This song is an intriguing mix between bass and techno music. The beat drop is central to the song, the lyrics rise and fall with the beat, and the repetition is exactly what you would expect to hear during a good DJ set.

The filthy ‘GRiME SHiT’ follows track four and is packed with edgy energy. Although it is at its core a trap song it also has elements of rap with a sultry vocal sample which perfectly emulates the blending of genres on the EP. 

Last, but not least, is ‘iGNiTE’ and it closes out the EP with a bang. Showcasing the most lyrics of any song on the EP and also one of the most constantly intense beats. This song was clearly made to get the crowd engaged and raging. 

The EP makes it clear why the duo is cemented as one of the most exciting up-and-coming acts in all of bass music, and why they have been celebrated by their contemporaries like Zeds Dead and Sullivan King for their sound and production.

The duo is sure to blast their new music and all upcoming shows they play. And with their rising presence in the music scene, they are sure to release more exciting stuff in the near future.
