ASW and Tommie Sunshine Combine Music and Mental Health in New Project Grooving For Good

Mental health advocate and producer, ASW, teams up with Tommie Sunshine to spread the word about the importance of mental health with their project, grooving for good.

Producer/advocate Asinglewave, better known as ASW, is teaming up with raver and activist Tommie Sunshine in order to launch a not-for-profit college program titled, Grooving For Good. The program will be held at the University of Washington and will combine music and art to promote mental health awareness. The students of the University of Washington will enjoy an afternoon of free events that include an interactive panel discussion with Tommie Sunshine, a painting and drawing session, and a closing art showcase on Thursday, May 19, 2022.

The topic of mental health hits home for ASW, as he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder almost 10 years ago, being involuntarily held at a hospital for observation in their mental health quarters. This experience was not only challenging for him, but it drove him to dive into his creative mindset, combining both his love for music and his passion to spread mental health awareness to others, in an attempt to destroy the stigmas surrounding the topic.

Tommie Sunshine is an acclaimed music producer, but many also know him as an outspoken advocate as well. Tommie Sunshine is an activist for mental health awareness and a substance abuse survivor. He is not only an outstanding DJ and producer, but Tommie also wears the hat as an adjunct professor at New York University. Tommie has more than enough experiences to relate to the students, whether it be through music or handling stressful situations throughout life.

Grooving For Good will be hosted by the campus group, Pup Support, which has partnered with ASW to create a GoFundMe fundraiser in order to raise funds for the operation of the great cause. The fundraiser has already raised about $2,000 of their $25,000 goal. ASW asks that if you can, to please help to support their cause to spread awareness to mental health.
