Dirt Monkey and SULLY Unleash Hard-Hitting New Single “King Kong” on WAKAAN
Dirt Monkey and SULLY unite and bring spooky, futuristic heat on new single.
Dirt Monkey and SULLY have teamed up to unleash their massive single, “King Kong.” The combination of Dirt Monkey’s wonky style, mixed with SULLY’s booming bass, has made for a fresh musical concoction.
The spooky and futuristic single was released on March 1st and is already making its statement on playlists and setlists alike.
The single takes wobbles and wubs to the next level and is sure to shake things up and claim its rightful home in the world of bass and electronic music.
“Sully and I wrote this lil number on Liquid Stranger’s tour in early 2020 right before the pandemic hit… we tried to make it as anthemic as possible, and it’s gotten a great crowd response every single time I’ve played it, so I’m very excited for it to be out,” says Dirt Monkey.
The excellent crowd response makes sense to SULLY, who thinks, “Pat (Dirt Monkey) is an absolute beast of a producer, a great friend, and has been an influence for me over the years.”
Surprisingly, the crowd favorite was made quick and didn’t have the lengthy creation process most singles might.
“King Kong came together SO quick. I remember passing the laptop and headphones back and forth every half hour until it was knocked out one afternoon before we played a show in Baton Rouge. The next day, we wrapped up the song in Luzcid’s kitchen in Houston and got to play out the full product at the Ayva Center for one of my last stops of the tour,” says SULLY.
Dirt Monkey has been making a name for himself in electronic music since the release of his 2012 record.
He rang in 2022 performing at Countdown NYE and has had multiple performances since then. Including special guest appearances on Subtronics’ Fractual Tour. Riding off his past success and having a tour planned for 2022, this year will be another big one for the artist.
SULLY first stepped into the music scene in 2019. Since then, he has self-released projects like “Frequency Shift” and “Quake” before making a home for himself at the WAKAAN label. With “King Kong” under his belt, 2022 will be another year the artist develops their multi-genre sound.
