Timeline of Porter Robinson’s + Rika’s Heartwarming Relationship

Just last month, Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Porter Robinson announced his engagement to his long-time girlfriend Rika Mikuriya. 

Any fans who have kept up with the DJ’s personal life in recent years would know the name Rika or recognize her face. The pair began dating in February 2017, the same year Porter debuted his coveted Virtual Self alias. That year, the two were spotted spending the holidays together and of course, celebrating the launch of Porter’s new project. 

In 2018, Porter Robinson and Rika celebrated their one-year anniversary in Las Vegas. Shortly after, Rika accompanied Porter to her very first Ultra Miami. Porter Robinson made his Ultra debut as Virtual Self that year, launching his new project into overdrive. The couple spent the remainder of the year traveling around the U.S. as well as Rika’s native country, Japan. They attended EDC Las Vegas where Porter performed and even took their first trip to Disneyland Japan together.

Porter and Rika were mostly quiet about their personal lives on social media in 2019. However, the following year marked a huge milestone for the artist, as he shared the very first single “Something Comforting” off his forthcoming album. 

Not long after Porter announced ‘Nurture’ was in the works, he made a sweet Valentine’s Day post about Rika, noting “this album wouldn’t be happening without her.” The two spent most of the year cozied up together during quarantine.

Come 2021, Porter Robinson first alluded to his proposal plans to Rika with his song, “Sweet Time”. He expressed, “This song is about being so in love with someone, that for the first time in your life, you’re scared of dying…Rika and I have been together for four years, and honestly it’s really time for me to propose.” Later that year, fans even chanted Rika’s name at one of Porter’s shows.

In January 2022, Porter finally decided to pop the question and made a touching Instagram post to share the news with fans. He says, “…rika is one in a trillion. rika, you are my soulmate and i cannot wait to marry you!” Cheers to many more years of Rika and Porter!
