Bass music superstar Wreckno embraces his authentic self in a candid social media post, reminding friends and fans that he identifies with gender-fluidity and debunks any rumors that he is transitioning.

Brandon Wisniski aka Wreckno is not shy showing off his true colors. Fans might find him on stage dressing up in skirts, crazy patterns, or whatever funky pieces of clothing he feels comfortable in, really. He undoubtedly allows his creative side through both his music and sense of style.

However, Wreckno’s tendency to dress in clothing that society considers feminine has led to some confusion among fans. The artist was happy to clear things up in his recent post, being extremely open about his experience. He starts off by saying, “I identify strongly with gender-fluidity. I always have. I expressed it in high school but the conversation on gender identity wasn’t where it is now.”

Wreckno alludes to years spent living in a small town, in which he “subconsciously shut that part of myself out in order to not make life harder.” He notes that in the past years, he’s found the confidence and strength to embrace being gender-fluid.

He goes on, “Even just wearing skirts and pig tails on stage, it’s like I’m FINALLY over the mental block I had after my teens. With this being said, I’d just like to state that I am not transitioning. I don’t identify as trans personally.” He notes that several people have assumed this about him and spoken to him regarding the topic as if it was a fact, even hearing a rumor that he’s now going by Bailey.

Of course, Wreckno is not frustrated, he’s just taking the opportunity to clear up any rumors and be honest with himself and his fans about who he is. Wreckno continues to be a voice for the LGBTQ+ community and an extremely positive influence on the electronic music community. Catch him this summer at major festivals including Summer Camp, Bonnaroo, Beyond Wonderland, and Electric Forest.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
