12th Planet Breaks Silence To Address Sexual Assault Allegations – [Read]

Long-time dubstep DJ and producer 12th Planet releases a statement on Instagram discrediting sexual assault allegations made against him by EDM photographer Grim.

In early December 2021, EDM photographer Grim made a slew of allegations against 12th Planet, Gammer, and Trampa. In a Twitter post, the photographer accused both 12th Planet and Gammer of sexual assault and Trampa of rape.

For more than a month following the allegations, fans were left speculating as neither artist had addressed Grim’s statement. English DJ and producer Gammer was the first of the three to speak out, apologizing to Grim for his actions and claiming there was no “ill intent” behind them. He also took the opportunity to thank his fans for the support and for allowing him time to address the allegations.

Last week, 12th Planet shared his account of the incident to Instagram, telling a very different version of Grim’s story. The artist denied the sexual assault allegations made against him and addressed his nearly two months of silence, during which he was reportedly dropped from at least one festival.

In his post, 12th Planet wrote, “I know what the truth is, and I’ve spent the last few weeks sharing that with my close friends and colleagues.” He went on, “I didn’t comment publicly because I didn’t want to draw attention to these bizarre and untrue claims.” The artist also noted that there were two other people in the room at the time who would be able to corroborate his version of the story.

12th Planet’s Instagram post was filled with supportive comments from fans and colleagues, including Slushii, Green Velvet, and Leah Culver. One comment reads, “I can attest to John’s character as someone who’s known him personally for years. He is humble, empathetic and has a deep passion for making others happy through his music. I’ve only seen him elevate others through his energy and gracious spirit. Never heard a bad word about him.”

Trampa has yet to make a statement regarding the rape allegations made against him.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
