Okeechobee Reveals Plan for CharlestheFirst Tribute at March Festival – [Read]

Insomniac’s Okeechobee Festival will be curating a special evening to honor and remember the late CharlestheFirst. 

The music community was gutted to learn of CharlestheFirst’s unexpected passing last month just prior to his Caverns show in Tennessee. The budding artist had also made up part of the Lab Group DJ trio, alongside Potions and Supertask. During his twenty-five years on Earth, CharlestheFirst undoubtedly created a beautiful legacy with his life and music–something those he has touched will never forget.  

In recent weeks, friends, family, colleagues, and fans of CharlestheFirst have found unique and special ways to honor him. Things like sharing stories, getting tattoos, and signing a mural of the artist in Venice Beach have been bringing his fans and loved ones peace. CharlestheFirst’s mother even started a GoFundMe to assist with expenses for various memorials, and to eventually “start a foundation in his name to create a retreat, healing center and collaborative studio environment for artists.”

CharlestheFirst was slated to perform at Okeechobee Festival’s 2022 edition, and after his passing, several fans expressed their desire for a memorial set in his honor. The festival shared its daily lineup this past week, which included “An Evening With No Name Honoring CharlestheFirst” on Thursday. 

Okeechobee has not provided much detail about what this special evening might entail, however, fans are eager to come together in his memory in a festival setting. Lab Group is also scheduled to proceed with their time slot at the festival.

It’s quite apparent the massive impact CharlestheFirst had on the community. Mission Ballroom in Denver will be hosting a CharlestheFirst Memorial Benefit tomorrow night, in which friends, family, and collaborators can come together to honor his life. Any fans who cannot attend will have another opportunity to remember him in a community setting at Okeechobee Festival this March.
