Lee Foss Returns to Ibiza for New Residency After Island Announces First Season in Two Years
Lee Foss plans “Arrival” at Eden in Ibiza following an ease in Covid-19 restrictions.
After a devastating hit from the Covid-19 virus, one of the most well-known party islands, Ibiza, will be reopening nightclubs, bars, and restaurants as the legendary DJ Lee Foss declared residency. On January 18th, Foss announced “The Arrival” of himself and his label Repopulate Mars at the dance and nightclub, Eden.
Foss began making music in 2008, but became more well known in 2010 with the release of his EP “U Got Me.” In an interview with electronique.it Foss stated that when he returned from a trip to Ibiza with the two-time award-winning DJ Jamie Jones in 2004, it changed his perception of how to create music.
He said, “When I came back from Ibiza in 2004 I knew I wanted to start producing, Jamie had started producing in Reason and I had watched him a few times so I kind of had an idea of how to do it.” He went on to say, “I bought myself a computer but teaching myself everything took a long time and it really took moving to Los Angeles and working full time on music in 2008 and switching to Ableton live to start making releasable tracks.”
According to an Instagram post by Foss, the performances at Eden will take place, “every Tuesday from June 21st to September 20th. From the most magnetic island on earth we will take a portal to the Red Planet and Repopulate Mars with the hottest DJs in the galaxy.”
While Covid-19 has heavily impacted Ibiza’s nightclub, dance, and EDM scene; the pandemic still rages on and DJ’s have had to alter their performances. Over the summer many artists performed through alternate methods such as music-led yacht raves.
The sudden rise in the Omicron variant of the virus has led many artists to reschedule their tours or shows for later in the year, so it’s no surprise that Foss would plan to do the same. That being said, in a post on the Eden nightclub’s Instagram, “Ibiza confirms nightclubs will re-open in April.” So, who knows what the future will hold?
