Swedish House Mafia Returns to Festival Season with Coachella Despite Decision to End Project
The boys are back and the reunion’s none other than Coachella.
It’s 2022 but my oh my does it feel like 2008. Brittney Spears is two questionable Instagram posts away from shaving her head, Megan Fox is engaged to the love of her life, and Swedish House Mafia is back, reuniting at none other than the one and only Coachella. This performance will be the first since Ultra 2018, where the group reunited for a special appearance in Miami for Ultra’s 20th anniversary.
And to intensify the hype, the Swedes, arguably the greatest DJ group of all time, are also talking of releasing new music. “Paradise Again,” a reimagining of their original studio album, is rumored to be in the pipeline for 2022.
The trio has also been silently collaborating with other artists, most notably The Weekend. In October of 2021, they released “Moth to a Flame,” while also low-key producing “Sacrifice” and “How Do I Make You Love Me,” also by The Weeknd. Although it’s been a minute since the boys put forth an entire, polished body of work, it’s safe to say they never stopped making music.
And even though it may look, feel, and sound as though the group is reuniting for real for real, those rumors have yet to be confirmed. Besides, it wouldn’t be the first, second, third, or so on time that a rumor of that nature circulated concerning Swedish House Mafia.
But from our perspective, when reflecting on Swedish House Mafia’s confirmed Coachella performance and a soft album release announcement – if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, behaves like a duck, then it’s probably a duck. To be continued…
