7 EDM Festivals To Keep On Your Radar For 2022 – [Read]

Despite the lingering pandemic, 2021 has taught us that a world with live music and Covid-19 can coexist. After years of cancellations and other setbacks, our favorite festivals have fought to make their comeback, and some rightfully made their way onto this list.

We’ve compiled a roster of the top EDM festivals that should undoubtedly be on your radar come 2022. Each of these festivals has demonstrated themselves worthy of our support by bringing out the best artists, creating a comfortable and inviting environment for fans, and providing the ultimate escape from reality.

Ultra Music Festival Miami

Ultra Miami will be making a historic return to Bayfront Park on March 25-27th, 2022. After being forced out of its longtime home in 2019, and subsequently canceled due to Covid-19 in 2020 and 2021, the festival has a lot to make up for.

However, Ultra has already proven it’s more than up for the task with its killer phase two lineup. The festival enlisted some of the most sought-after names in electronic music, such as VOYD, Illenium, Tiesto, Adam Beyer, Zeds Dead, to join them in Miami this year.

But of course, Ultra’s biggest selling point–who doesn’t want to party in Miami during Miami Music Week? Music Week is arguably Miami’s biggest EDM showcase of the year. Artists travel from across the globe to perform at Club Space, LIV, Treehouse, and of course, Ultra to play for fans through all hours of the morning and night. Chances are your favorite headliner is throwing a secret warehouse party.

Tickets are still on sale on Ultra Music Festival’s website

Electric Forest

Held annually in Rothbury, Michigan, Insomniac’s Electric Forest just recently dropped its lineup poster, making it one of the top festivals to attend in 2022. Aside from a star-studded lineup, the anticipation for the festival’s return after a two-year hiatus couldn’t be any stronger.

The most coveted spot in the festival grounds, Sherwood Forest, is a wooded wonderland adorned with magical creatures, neon lights, secret passageways, stages and more. Attendees can lay up in hammocks, barter at the Trading Post, and even get married at the chapel.

Plus, with headliners like GRiZ, Slander, Porter Robinson, and Disclosure, Electric Forest is the spot to be this summer. The sold-out festival will take place June 23-26, 2022. Limited tickets remain on the festival’s Official Ticket Exchange.

Bass Canyon

Annually hosted at The Gorge Amphitheater by the king of dubstep himself, Excision, Bass Canyon is the perfect blend of filthy dubstep and all the natural beauty the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Although Excision and his team have yet to announce dates for its 2022 edition, we can expect it’ll take place in late August as it has since its fruition in 2018.

Bass Canyon is a West Coast offshoot of Excision’s wildly successful Dubstep SuperBowl, Lost Lands. The twist is that attendees get spectacular views overlooking the Columbia River at an event fully equipped with The Paradox stage production, PK sound, and the biggest names in bass music.

Not to mention, Bass Canyon is somewhat of a hometown festival for Excision, as The Gorge isn’t too far from his home in Kelowna, BC. Attendees are encouraged to camp outside of the festival grounds for the best possible experience.

Stay tuned for Bass Canyon 2022 dates, lineup, and ticket sales.

Suwannee Hulaween

Although Hulaween hasn’t announced any plans for its 2022 edition yet, we’re going to jump the gun because this festival is just that good year after year.

Suwanee Hulaween historically takes place over Halloween weekend at the famous Spirit of Suwanne Music Park & Campground. Although various live music events are held at the venue throughout the year, Hulaween is certainly its standout event hosting 20k attendees per day.

If you’re looking for variety, Hulaween is a great music festival to attend in 2022. Each year, the lineup features dubstep, rap, bluegrass, rock, pop, and much more. There’s always something for everyone, and if not, there’s a sea of visual art installations situated throughout Spirit Lake.

We’re still waiting on more details for Suwanee Hulaween’s 2022 event, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated.

Electric Zoo

Electric Zoo brings dance music to the northeast for a massive party every Labor Day Weekend. Held at Randall’s Island, the festival is easily accessible from all five boroughs of New York City.

Patrons can soak up the last of the summer sun and listen to the hottest artists in EDM against the backdrop of the city’s skyline. Something unique about Electric Zoo is that it announces a new theme every year, with previous years being “supernaturals” and “evolved,” while sticking to the overall zoo-themed stage designs and art installations.

Electric Zoo has yet to announce its plans for this coming year’s theme or lineup, but we’ve already cleared our schedules for Labor Day Weekend in anticipation of the good news.

Holy Ship!

Cleverly changing its name to Holy Ship! Wrecked for its pandemic version, this festival certainly demonstrates an ability to overcome challenges.

Historically, Holy Ship! was a 4-day Caribbean sailing adventure departing out of Port Canaveral, Florida. However, the pandemic ruled out the cruise ship, so the festival adapted in the best way it knew possible by moving the party to an all-inclusive resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

In addition to performances by the hottest DJs in the electronic scene, attendees enjoyed poolside bars, beach sunrises, room service, and much more. Holy Ship! Wrecked just concluded its 2021 event, so it’s not clear whether next year’s version will be at sea or on land. Either way, we’re looking forward to exciting news from Holy Ship! for 2022.

BUKU Music + Art Project

BUKU Music + Art Project just dropped one of the most stacked lineups of 2022. The festival has faced two cancellations so far due to the pandemic, and with just three months to go, this lineup announcement is the final push we needed to put BUKU on our radar for the new year.

A trip to BUKU means you can experience the beauty of the festival along with the magic of New Orleans all in one. Each year the festival is designed to encompass the enchantment of BUKU while providing the best-in-class entertainment. It’s certainly living up to that expectation in 2022, after promising to deliver names like Glass Animals, Tyler The Creator, Tame Impala, John Summit, Alison Wonderland, Porter Robinson, Liquid Stranger, and more.

BUKU even paid homage to the late CharlestheFirst by incorporating his logo into the lineup poster. It’s evident that the event’s organizers truly have a foot in the EDM fan community, which always translates into a worthwhile festival.

BUKU will compete with Ultra Music Festival, as it’s scheduled to take place on the same weekend in late March. Visit BUKU’s website to signup for presale ticket access.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
