Fans Say Pretty Lights’ Younger Brother Has A “Similar Sound” – [Read]

Motifv, Pretty Lights’ younger brother, has caught the attention of his brother’s fans for his divine production capabilities.

Colorado-based producer and DJ Motifv has a similar chilled-out, funky, bass-infused sound as his older brother. This year he dropped a 7-track electro-soul album titled, ‘Dilated Mind’ that gained him much deserved recognition in the dance music space.

Just one run-through of his album proves that Motifv is talented enough to build his own fanbase. However, given the similarity of his style to Pretty Lights and the painful absence of the artist in recent years, Motifv feels like breath of fresh air we’ve all been craving.

A thread was recently posted to Reddit titled, “What happened to Pretty Lights?” This question has been all too common since the artist went dark three years ago. One fan took the opportunity to call out Motifv, noting that he has a “similar sound” to his older brother.

Pretty Lights became a topic of conversation again about a year ago when he wiped his Instagram completely. Fans speculated this would be followed by some sort of announcement or new music, but neither has come to fruition.

What we do know is that Pretty Lights was spotted in the studio with fellow producer Mux Mool just last month. Mool shared the video to Twitter, sparking a myriad of rumors fueled by fans hopeful of the artist’s return. For now, we can only imagine a world where both Pretty Lights and Motifv are pumping out new tunes.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
