Virgil Abloh Loses Battle Against Cancer, Passes Away At Age 41 – [BREAKING]
The beloved fashion designer and techno DJ has passed away after battling Cardiac Angiosarcoma.
Virgil Abloh as tragically passed after two years of battling an aggressive form of cancer. The producer’s family broke the news in a post on his Instagram page.
Alongside a smiling photo of the fashion designer, they wrote: “We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved Virgil Abloh, a fiercely devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife Shannon Abloh, his children Lowe Abloh and Grey Abloh, his sister Edwina Abloh, his parents Nee and Eunice Abloh, and numerous dear friends and colleagues.”
The post continued: “For over two years, Virgil valiantly battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma. He chose to endure his battle privately since his diagnosis in 2019, undergoing numerous challenging treatments, all while helming several significant institutions that span fashion, art, and culture.
“Through it all, his work ethic, infinite curiosity, and optimism never wavered. Virgil was driven by his dedication to his craft and to his mission to open doors for others and create pathways for greater equality in art and design. He often said, “Everything I do is for the 17-year-old version of myself,” believing deeply in the power of art to inspire future generations.
“We thank you all for your love and support, and we ask for privacy as we grieve and celebrate Virgil’s life. Virgil Abloh September 30, 1980 – November 28, 2021,” the message concluded.
Virgil Abloh was an incredibly talented creative, who used fashion and music as outlets for his art. The father of two founded the clothing brand Off-White and later worked as the artistic director for Louis Vuitton.
Virgil developed a love for music at a young age, and by the time he was a teenager he was already DJing house parties. The producer reached critical acclaim for his skill, and performed at highly esteemed festivals and venues such as Tomorrowland Belgium and Hi Ibiza.
In 2019, the creative announced a residency at Wynn Las Vegas, and earlier this year he launched a monthly two-hour radio show on Worldwide FM.
Recently, Virgil performed at New York’s Circoloco Halloween, where many were able to enjoy his music for the last time.
Virgil made a substantial impact in fashion, music, and art and will be remembered for his dedication to his beliefs and philosophies.
