Aluna Announces New Orleans Festival Featuring All-Black Lineup – [Read]

The event’s purpose is to elevate Black and LGBTQ+ voices through music and art.

British artist Aluna recently shared with fans that she and business partner Pollen Presents, a technology company creating memorable experiences for world-wide users, plan to host a New Orleans event called Noir Fever this coming Spring. Taking place from May 27th to the 30th of 2022, this novel festival will give artists of color a platform to reach eager and awaiting audiences. The lineup includes Aluna, KAYTRANADA, Channel Tres, Jayda G, TSHA, Derrick Carter, Kevin Saunderson, Duckwrth, Austin Millz, NEZ, UNIIQU3, Kaleena Zanders, MAAD, Bambii, and Tygapaw, and many more.

In addition to partnering with Black communities, the newbie festival also plans to elevate the voices of LGBTQ+ artists, dancers, musicians, and patrons. In conjunction with nocturnal, underground rave rendezvous, the event will also host a speaker series with keynote talks, workshops, a marketplace for innovative Black-owned brands, and a few unannounced surprises for all those in attendance.

When speaking on the upcoming festival, Aluna shares wisdom. “This unique experience of honoring dance music’s heritage and getting a taste of what’s to come will reignite a much-needed connection back to what dance music is about – creating a place where people from all different communities can come together and dance their hearts out while feeling free to be themselves.”

Aluna, originally attracting attention as a member of the duo AlunaGeorge, has recently become a solo artist, dropping her debut solo album “Renaissance” on Diplo’s Mad Decent. She’s collaborated with artists such as Austin Millz and Tekno and is the host of her own radio show on SiriusXM titled “Noir Fever,” an ode to her cultural fortitude and a shared platform for other deserving movers and shakers of the industry.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
