Porter Robinson Allows Fan To Play Intro To “Sad Machine” At Brooklyn Show – [Watch]
The multifaceted artist brought his highly-anticipated ‘Nurture’ live show to Brooklyn’s Avant Gardner for a three-day takeover
Following his widely-successful festival, Second Sky, Porter Robinson is back on the road to share his exquisite sophomore album, ‘Nurture,’ with devoted fans. Last weekend, Porter took over Avant Gardner for a massive three day event that was nearly completely sold out. Despite the packed house, the talented musician shared a very intimate performance featuring the very best of his discography.
Much like the ‘Nurture’ album itself, the tour performance was a highly immersive and emotional experience for the audience. Showcasing most of the album as well as a handful of classics from his debut album ‘Worlds’, Porter effortlessly captivated the crowd from start to finish. Adding another personal touch to the show, Robinson gave a shout out to his family and girlfriend, Rika, who were all in attendance on Friday evening.
Throughout his career, Porter Robinson has become highly regarded as one of the most influential electronic music producers of the current generation. His groundbreaking collection of music continues to shift and influence a range of producers. Supporting act Jai Wolf (above) shared a heartfelt story on Friday about his first time seeing the Worlds tour in New York City and how that night had shaped his career path exponentially.
Much of his success is due to his ethereal debut album, ‘Worlds’. Porter has openly expressed how much pressure he felt when producing ‘Nurture’ and how long it took him to be comfortable making music again. After much anticipation, eager fans are elated to finally experience another live tour from the gifted artist.
Reflecting on another monumental moment in his career, Porter Robinson’s carefully crafted ‘Nurture’ live tour was truly unforgettable. In addition to the impressive visual production, Robinson also made sure to incorporate the audience as much as he could. He played with a webcam that projected the audience on the screen and even shared his MIDI controller with a fan so he could play the intro to “Sad Machine”. Check out the special moment above!
Another notable moment from the evening was the epic mashup of the iconic “Language” with his poignant Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs collab, “Unfold”. After pleading from the crowd, Porter returned to the stage for one final encore to close out the evening.
