Mersiv Reveals Long-Awaited Debut EP ‘Pretty Dark Loud’

The time has finally come for Colorado-based freeform bass aficionado Mersiv to share his debut album, ‘Pretty Dark Loud’ on MorFlo Records, which includes twenty sonically immersive tracks.

‘Pretty Dark Loud’ is the peak of the Mersiv Sound Project and what it stands for–bringing people into the present moment through sound. The mastermind behind the project, Anderson Benoit Gallegos, crafted each track thoughtfully based on personal experiences set with therapeutic intentions. He was first introduced to the power of music by his mother, who encouraged him to play piano at age 7, and continued to pick up various instruments throughout the years.

Like many success stories, Mersiv turned to expression through electronic sounds following a personal tragedy. “DJing music and creating a journey in a set really brought me into the present moment,” he says. “Taking other people along the ride helped me express myself in a healthy way that seemed to make others happy.”

In the years leading up to this monumental moment in his career, Mersiv has been exploring a unique freeform style of electronic music. His focus on meaning and emotion allows him to put a story into each track he releases and every set he performs. Above all, Mersiv’s sound functions as a journey through healing. Everyone walks out of a Mersiv set as a different person (for the better), and listening to ‘Pretty Dark Loud’ from start to finish will leave the same impression.

Mersiv explores what Pretty, Dark, and Loud mean with each track. For the former, he introduces tracks like “Departure” and “Severing String”, featuring an inspiring range of sounds and tempos. Meanwhile, Dark is understandably represented by ominous offerings such as “Forest Creature” with Killa Nova.

On the other hand, Loud encompasses all of the bangers from the collection, including “The Death Note” and “Fire Dance” with Birmingham-based rapper, Attitude. All in all, Mersiv’s message is loud and clear, as it transmutes restorative energy through every note. Catch Mersiv at Escape and Hulaween next weekend!

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
