Exron Music: In September you released your newest single “Piece of Me” with Lova. The energy in this song is unmatched, what was your inspiration?

Gryffin: Thanks so much. The inspiration for this song was pretty simple. I wanted to make a fun, club record that people could enjoy once lockdown restrictions were lifted. I made this in the height of the pandemic and it was a creative outlet that I ended up being very proud of.

Exron Music: How does it feel to return to touring? Do you feel differently about the experience post-covid?

Gryffin: It’s been a really amazing experience so far. The last year and a half was hard because I didn’t have a way to connect with my fans outside of social media. My favorite part about being an artist is playing my songs live, and once that was taken away from me, it was definitely challenging to adapt. It also feels like people are hungrier than ever for experiences, so my shows have had insane energy so far.

Exron Music: You’ve been working with some super talented vocalists on your recent releases. What is your creative process like when working with other artists?

Gryffin: I try to find artists that have something unique about them and can bring something emotionally moving to our records. For me it’s not necessarily about how big the artist is, but how captivating and special the song itself is and their performance is.

Exron Music: You’ve been killing it with your Wynn nightlife residency in Las Vegas. What’s the best part of playing to the Encore crowd?

Gryffin: The best part is definitely the energy that people bring every night. Vegas is a place where people try to have fun so I try to deliver a set that people walk away from thinking they had the time of their lives.

Exron Music: Happy belated birthday!! What was your wish for the next year?

Gryffin: Thanks! If I could wish for anything it’d just be that things keep moving back to normal in a safe and healthy way.

Exron Music: Exron readers love to hear about their favorite producer’s relationships and we are obsessed with yours! How do you think Steph and your pup Gigi help you stay grounded in the music industry?

Gryffin: I think we’ve stayed grounded because we’re a family and we’re always there for each other. Steph and Gigi have been by my side since day one so they’ve seen me through all iterations of the Gryffin project. Whenever I’m in need of honest feedback or advice, Steph is there for me. Whenever I need a studio buddy, Gigi is always there for me 🙂

Exron Music: After launching the Gryffin project with a slew of remixes, you released your debut single “Heading Home” in 2016. How has your signature sound and musical taste evolved since then?

Gryffin: My signature sound and music tastes have evolved in a variety of ways. I’ve experimented with a number of different genres even during the remix days, but I’ve always tried to make sure that each song sounds
uniquely Gryffin. Since the remix days, I’ve made future bass records, I’ve made house records, I’ve made orchestral records, and a number of other different genre-based records so I think the evolution can be heard if you listen to my catalog chronologically.

Exron Music: Are there any specific tracks in your catalog that you feel have resonated with your fans the most?

Gryffin: It depends on the type of fan, but the first records that come to top of mind are “Tie Me Down”, “Body Back”, “All You Need To Know” and “Feel Good”. “Tie Me Down” and “Body Back” are definitely the loudest songs at shows and festivals because they’re just so easy to sing-along to. “All You Need To Know” and “Feel Good” were big records for my dance fanbase that people have messaged me saying changed their lives, which is the biggest compliment an artist can get.

Exron Music: What are some of your other passions outside of music? Do you feel like these help keep you inspired in the studio?

Gryffin: I really love golf, video games like Call of Duty, traveling, and hanging out with my family. That’s really what keeps me inspired – being surrounded by people who mean the world to me, and uplift me everyday.

Exron Music: Your debut album ‘Gravity’ has received millions of collective streams in the past few years. Are you currently working on a second album or are there any other upcoming plans you can share with us?

Gryffin: I have a second album in the works and I’m really excited for people to hear this next evolution of my sound. I can’t reveal too much yet, but I’ve been working on a ton of new music and can’t wait to show everyone what it sounds like.
