Jerro Drops Emotive Debut LP ‘Coming Home’ – [Listen]
A melodic house album of depth, thoughtfulness, and whimsicality.
Jerro, Belgium’s beloved indie-house producer, just released his first debut full-length LP on This Never Happened, titled “Coming Home,” replete with eleven dope tracks and bold features from artists such as Panama, Fractures, and Tailor. Although this is the first album release for Jerro, this drop follows his two-track release “Demons” from 2020 and his EP “The Fool,” released in 2019. Jerro is set to go on tour at the beginning of 2022, making pitstops in metropolises such as Montreal, Brooklyn, Boston, Las Vegas, Chicago, Denver, and many more.
When speaking on his album, Jerro is brimming with unbridled excitement and enthusiasm for his favorite compilation yet. “My debut album is something that I have always dreamed of since I started making music,” muses Jerro. He continues with, “And it feels surreal that it is finally being released. One thing I love about the album is the diversity of sounds. There are pop-driven tracks like ‘Too Weak’ that are the people-pleasers, true melodic-house tracks like ‘Stay,’ indie tracks like ‘Are You There,’ and club tracks like ‘Sweeping.’ I really wanted to put together an album where every type of listener can find songs that they enjoy, while still staying true to that classic Jerro sound, and I couldn’t be more proud of how it turned out!”
Jerro’s sound is not quite indie, but not exactly deep house either. It’s an in-the-middle hybrid genre that’s both refreshing and poignant. His music takes its time and emotes, while also staying light and quick-tempoed. The tracks oscillate between edgy rhythms and then softer melodies, bringing a sense of variety to the album yet an overall feeling of thoughtfulness, bliss, and nostalgia. Some tracks are just music, with little to no voiceovers, and others feature synths and gossamer vocals.
