How Porter Robinson’s Second Sky Is Changing The Festival Game
From an intimate lineup to curated food options, here’s exactly why Porter Robinson’s Second Sky is the best thing to happen to the festival scene.
For starters, it’s obvious how much care Porter puts into his selection for the lineup each year. For it’s 2021 edition, taking place September 18th and 19th, Second Sky enlisted Porter’s longtime friend and collaborator, Madeon. In addition to sought-after DJs like Wavedash and Jai Wolf, the festival also brought on live acts such as Jacob Collier and and Toro Y Moi to foster a range of sound and entertainment.
After hosting such a groundbreaking series of events, Porter Robinson wanted to ensure he shared the love with fans who weren’t able to attend this year. Right after the weekend came to a close, Porter wasted no time uploading all of the sets to YouTube. Porter also let his personality show by giving Second Sky it’s very own mascot, Potaro, who has it’s very own merch line.
Everyone knows that the second most important thing at a festival to music is food. Second Sky didn’t back down from the challenge this year. Selections included Potaro Taro Boba, Taiwanese Taco in a Potaro Pocket, Potaro Pouch Bao, Potaro Pop… you get the idea. Not to mention, the festival ensured gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.
Second Sky merch closely fit the brand of the festival as well. Obviously Potaro was there in many forms, including as a plush and as an adorable keychain. In addition to Second Sky merch, Porter had his Nurture merch on display.
Finally, with the comfort of his fans in mind, Porter purchased enough turf to cover the entire festival grounds at César E. Chávez Park in Berkley. Second Sky was truly one for the fans, and Porter Robinson outdid himself for it’s second edition. Not to mention, the artist debut his highly-anticipated side project, Air to Earth which is a live-only DJ show.
