SLANDER Cancels Inaugural Starbase Festival Due to Recent COVID Surge – [Read]
Bass music duo, SLANDER, abruptly canceled their forthcoming “Starbase Festival” in Charleston, given the spike of COVID cases in South Carolina. All ticket-holders will be refunded within the next two weeks.
Just when we thought we were returning to pre-pandemic raving, one of this year’s most anticipated festivals bit the dust. With less than a month from the event’s October 8th commencement, SLANDER took a proactive approach and postponed it for an undefined date.
The feeling brought by the dubstep duo’s decision is one of melancholy. Even though many were waiting months for the debut of SLANDER’s live event, public health is a greater concern and canceling the event will keep potential COVID cases low.
The first edition of Starbase was set to feature a balanced mix of headliners and up-and-across all types of electronic music. Diversity is the name of the game when it comes to festival lineups, and SLANDER hit the nail on the head.
Alison Wonderland, NGHTMRE and San Holo are just a few of the star-studded, main stage acts curated for the event. Additionally, the lineup features various unique acts across all of bass music, including: Ace Aura, Au5, Blanke, Eprom, Marauda, Subtronics, Svdden Death, and Wavedash.
For those with tickets or future plans to visit Starbase, fear not — Starbase will be returning at some point in the future. As the official statement above reads, SLANDER has not “set future dates for Starbase in order to be fluid with the current COVID-19 situation….”
While we do not know how long the wait may be, we find solace in the fact that artists are doing what they can to prevent the spread of COVID.
