David Starfire Delivers Remix And Music Video for Dub FX To Fundraise for Cannabis Reform -[Watch]

David Starfire remixed Dub FX’s “Fire Every Day” alongside stirring music video with all proceeds going to the Last Prisoner Project.

Renowned San Francisco based multidisciplinary artist and DJ David Starfire has released a wubby bass remix of Dub FX‘s track “Fire Every Day”, accompanied by an explosive, one minute music video. The pair are donating all proceeds from the remix and the music video to the Last Prisoner Project. 

The Last Prisoner Project is a non-profit organization with a mission to take on criminal justice reform as it relates to non-violent criminal cannabis offenders. The project provides legal services, educational opportunities, and advocates for legislative changes in the justice system. The organization aims to undo some of the harm done by the United States’ ineffective and destructive drug policies and unjust punishments for non-violent cannabis crimes. 

Dub FX and David Starfire are well renowned for being some of the pioneers of global dub music, weaving intricate stories with elite production, vocals, and global music influences. Dub FX is well known for his masterfully layered production, vocal looping effects, and commanding the dub reggae movement. Benjamin Stanford, or Dub FX, was discovered by filmmaker Ben Dowden while performing on the streets of Bristol, who then proceeded to film his performances. These videos have amassed over 30 million views on YouTube, and garnered international attention, giving way to Dub FX landing many club events and mainstage festival acts over the last 13 years. 

David Starfire, a renowned pioneer of global bass, has mastered the world-fusion production sound, and his ‘Ascend‘ album reached #7 on the iTunes world music chart in 2013. David has played top-tier festivals like Winter Music Conference, Coachella, Outside Lands, Burning Man, Shambhala, and more. Starfire has even shared the stage with Skrillex, and collaborated with artists like the legendary Afrika Bambaataa, Ooah of the Glitch Mob, CloZee, and many more. 

The remix comes in a time where criminal justice reform is of paramount importance, considering an evolving world, paired with harsh, outdated, uninformed policies. The pair shed light on a prominent issue that continues to destroy lives of non-violent cannabis offenders, more statistically likely to be a person of color that will also face harsher penalties due to an unjust system. 

David Starfire said on the issue ,“It’s unethical that so many people are incarcerated for non-violent cannabis-related crimes when it’s been legal for years. I’ve been a long-time supporter of Dub FX. I felt like this was a great cause to help raise money and spread awareness to free those who are wrongfully locked up for marijuana crimes.”

The music video released along with the remix provides footage of better times ahead, propelled by videos of festival performances, fire dancers, and the message of uniting and building a better future. 100% of proceeds for the “Fire Every Day” remix will go directly towards freeing non-violent cannabis offenders in the United States.
