Pierce Fulton’s Side Project, Leaving Laurel, Set To Release Posthumous Debut Album -[Read]

‘Leaving Laurel’, the self-titled album, will be posthumously releasing their debut album August 20th, dedicated in his memory.

Pierce Fulton was a dedicated musician, producer, friend, and influence within the music scene.  Pierce Fulton has been a prominent force in the house scene with tracks released on renowned labels Anjunadeep, Armada, Monstercat, and more.

Pierce Fulton tragically passed away following a heartbreaking struggle with his mental health on April 29, 2021, via a statement released on Fulton’s twitter by his older brother Griff . His legacy and memory lives on, through his music, passion, and shared memories from close family and friends.

Pierce Fulton and Canadian DJ duo Botnek‘s Gordon Huntley had formed a side project and alias together in late 2019, with the name Leaving Laurel. The duo released two EPs under the new alias, the first dropping in June of 2020 titled “Through and Through EP‘. Fulton and Huntley dropped their second Leaving Laurel project in November 2020, titled “A Secret Place EP“.

In their short run of just a year and some change, the massively talented duo was able to complete the two EPs, multiple singles, and garnered millions of streams on Spotify alone. The close friends and DJ duo also completed a full studio album, a self titled debut album ‘Leaving Laurel’, before Fulton’s tragic passing.

Fulton and Huntley first met on the internet as friends, eventually becoming roommates in Los Angeles, making their own separate types of dance music. The pair eventually blossomed and opened up to the idea of collaborating and the project Leaving Laurel was born.

“This album is dedicated to his memory and has come to represent much more than two friends making music together in the Laurel Canyon neighborhood of Los Angeles. The album announcement comes with today’s release of ‘Winter In The Woods’, a track inspired by the duo’s time isolated in the woods of Connecticut & Vermont. Pierce’s struggles were very private, and with this album, Gordon and Pierce’s brother and manager Griff want to let the world know simply this:

It’s ok to not be ok.

It’s for anyone who can relate to his pain, and to know you are not alone.

“Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going too fast – you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.”
