Swedish House Mafia Reveals Ultra Music Festival Paid Them 1 Million For Their 2018 Reunion Set – [READ]
In a recent interview with Billboard, Swedish House Mafia shares details on the massive payout they received to play Ultra Miami’s main stage three years ago.
None of the artists actually ended up keeping any of the cash, and Sebastian Ingrosso admits to paying out of his pocket to play that night, as production costs for the show were astronomical. The artists were happy to do it for the fans, though.
The fans were just as thrilled to be present for the historic performance, as no one knew when (or if) the opportunity would come again. The trio put on an hour-long spectacle that included a big reveal, glowing LED panels, fire, and more. For SHM it’s not all about the music—production is just as important, if not more important. That’s what set them apart for so many years.
SHM did a pretty great job of keeping the million dollar Ultra show under wraps, as rumors of their appearance didn’t start circulating until the day of. They spent months preparing for the performance, including an entire week of secret rehearsals in a Miami warehouse. The three men even stayed in separate hotels to avoid any questions.
Up until last week when a mysterious billboard appeared in Times Square alluding to a new SHM album, the group has kept a low profile. The posters also appeared in Stockholm, the group’s hometown in Sweden, and Melbourne.
Ahead of the album, SHM dropped two stellar tracks, “Lifetime” (feat. Ty Dolla $ign & 070 Shake) and “It Gets Better” to set the tone for what’s to ahead. For now, we can only hope another live reunion will be in the cards.
