Baltimore Orioles Cancel Diplo’s Upcoming Performance As Sexual Assault Allegations Resurface – [Read]

The baseball team canceled the postgame performance after the Baltimore Sun published a letter to the editors criticizing the team’s decision to host Diplo in light of the fresh allegations against him.

This wouldn’t be the first time sexual assault allegations were brought against the three-time Grammy-nominated artist. Last November, an ex-lover, “Shelly” Auguste came forward accusing Diplo of sexual assault. Her accusations included grooming and revenge porn, and around that time, several other women came forward with similar claims.

The woman also alleged that the artist hired a private investigator to contact her after an argument the two had. In response to the string of accusations, Diplo’s attorney quickly sought a restraining order against the woman, claiming that his client was a victim of ongoing harassment and stalking. However, he’s now suing the woman for multiple counts of harassment.

The Diplo drama seemed to have subsided until recently when another woman accused him of sexual assault in an incident dating back to 2019 in Las Vegas. Diplo reportedly forced the woman to perform oral sex on him and filmed the encounter without her knowledge. As of recently, the woman filed a lawsuit against the musician.

A separate lawsuit was filed on June 24th by another woman claiming Diplo recorded their sexual encounter without her consent and leaked the footage online. The same woman alleged the artist gave her multiple sexually transmitted infections and failed to inform her of the risk beforehand. Diplo’s lawyer reported that these recent allegations are tied to the original accuser’s ongoing effort to harass the DJ and his family with false claims.

In light of these crippling claims and subsequent lawsuits, the Baltimore Orioles seemingly had no choice but to cancel Diplo’s upcoming postgame performance, as the team promotes a family-friendly atmosphere. The Orioles issues a statement via Twitter that read, “The Orioles will not hold the upcoming postgame performance on July 24 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Fans who purchased field passes with game tickets to the Diplo concert on July 24 will receive a refund.”

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
