Ekali Quietly Gets Engaged Following Messy Breakup With Sam Blacky – [Read]

Vancouver-based musician and model Tallyn shows off her new engagement ring from Ekali, who was engaged to Sam Blacky just last year.

Throughout the end of 2020, Ekali was in the spotlight after he and DJ/producer Sam Blacky had an explosive public breakup. Blacky cited cheating, abuse, and drug use as the root of the failed relationship. Ekali responded publicly to the accusations, and the two finally decided to make peace on the internet so everyone could move on.

Both artists have moved on in their own ways. Blacky has been selling out shows and releasing music, including her new single, “No More” with lyrics reading “No more sorries, no more pain.”

Ekali has been working on booking headlining slots at festivals such as Electric Zoo, Bonnaroo, Life Is Beautiful, and Hard Summer. He’s also been pretty busy keeping his relationship with Tallyn on the down low, although he’s alluded to the new relationship as early as this past April. Tallyn recently shared a photo on Instagram of the two cuddled up together, solidifying the suspicions.

Tallyn even shared a photo of the stunning ring on Twitter, tagging Ekali in the post. Ekali quoted the tweet with the message, “Finally a bit of justice for the good ones. So grateful to reconnect with an old friend.” Although the couple has been pretty private with their relationship, this news indicates Tallyn and Ekali have been in each other’s lives even before Ekali’s fallout with Blacky.

Ekali has been through a lot this past year, so we’re only wishing him the best with his new engagement. Now that the couple has gone public, we’ll be on the lookout for more sappy posts.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
