Bakermat Makes Waves With Sophomore Album ‘The Spirit’ – [Listen]

Earlier today Amsterdam artist, Bakermat released his highly-anticipated sophomore effort, ‘The Spirit’. The fresh studio album experiments with multiple sounds and genres, catering to old and new school house heads alike.

The new LP follows the producer’s Billboard-acclaimed single titled, “Ain’t Nobody.” In similar fashion, the 13-track release maintains an uplifting groove that keeps heads bobbing from the beginning to the climactic finale.

With his latest effort, the vibing Dutchman combines genres that are not traditionally associated together. The end product is a comprehensive, experimental music-listening experience. ‘The Spirit’ showcases Bakermat’s upbeat sound design and unorthodox songwriting.

Some tunes tap into a more funk-influenced house sound, while others boast delicate vocals and traditional instrumentation. Given the variety of energetic sounds and samples, the most fitting word for this album is “original.”

Bakermat’s upbringing was all but normal. The 26-year-old grew up in a music-centric home, under the guidance of his opera-singing mother and jazz-enthused father. The musician spent a majority of his formative years channeling inspiration from a plethora of musical styles.

Bakermat’s big break arrived in 2012, with the release of his greatly successful “One Day (Vandaag)” single. The landmark track sent ripples through the dance music scene, and racked up more than 100 million streams. Since then, the artist has crafted an inspiring sound and garnered a loyal fan base.

The producer’s talents extend far beyond the studio, and onto the stages. Fans can expect live instrumentation and flamboyant acts at Bakermat’s “The Circus” performances. London, New York, Amsterdam and Paris have all hosted the artist’s spectacles before. In addition to organizing these curated events, Bakermat also serves as a regular host at Tomorrowland, Airbeat One Festival and other large festivals.

Even as the artist continues to experiment with new ideas and techniques, the main characteristic of Bakermat’s music remains at the forefront: a feel-good sound.
