MIZE UNLEASHES EMOTIONALLY-CHARGED BASS TUNE “REFRACTION” – [LISTEN]
Up-and-coming experimental bass superstar Mize returns to Wakaan with his spellbinding new single “Refraction.”
Ian Evans, better known as Mize, grew up in Alabama, where he developed a strong affinity for post-2003-hip-hop and trap from a young age. A love for video games introduced him to the realm of electronic music, sparking his passion for contemporary sounds that helped jumpstart his career as a DJ and producer.

The artist rose to fame by putting his tunes out on Soundcloud and refining his image on Twitter, where he regularly keeps fans entertained with his music and his unique sense of humor. Since then, he’s played in front of massive audiences at festivals, including Wakaan Music Festival and High Caliber.
His latest release, “Refraction,” pays homage to his signature ambient, downtempo sound, infused with bouts of melodic dubstep. The track leads in with a sultry, psychedelic soundscape that can be not only heard but felt. Not long after, it transforms into a symphony of beautiful bass, bathing listeners in various frequencies of light—offering nothing short of a transformative experience.
“REFRACTION was one of those rare fleeting moments when I sit down in the studio and EVERYTHING just starts falling into place with what feels like no effort,” says Mize. “This song is very special to me, as it’s a vibe I’ve been trying to nail since I started my project, and it poured from me out of seemingly nowhere. This is a tune I’ll be rinsing almost every set for years to come.”
Mize has plans to play at Sound Haven, Imagine Festival, Summer Camp Music Festival, Bonnaroo, Electric Zoo, and more this year. Catching him at one of these events is your best bet at experiencing this cathartic new anthem live.
