OOKAY RELEASES SUMMER SMASH “WEEKENDS” AHEAD OF FORTHCOMING ALBUM- [LISTEN]

OOKAY HITS US WITH “SHE LIKE TO STAY UP DOING DRUGS FOR NO REASON”

Ookay, also known as Abraham Laguna and best known for his breakout hit single “Thief,” dropped yet another release from his forthcoming album, his sophomore LP. This new single, titled “Weekends,” is his second drop from his upcoming album, an appetizer for what is to come. Ookay’s full album will debut in the fall, but listeners might have the pleasure of future teaser tracks, if we’re lucky.

With more than 80 million streams on Spotify and support from the industry’s best and brightest, Ookay is doing just fine, despite this epoch of plague’s persistence and pervasiveness. When asked for commentary on the inspiration behind this latest release, Ookay spoke his truth. “People have really different lives, as they should. This song is about a girl who has a different life than I do, and we try to make it work…even if I’m busy sleeping.” Poetry – straight poetry.

When speaking on his musical talents, Ookay credits his dad, who introduced him to the music industry at a young age. Ookay’s father put his son to work at live music events, making him carry equipment to shows. During his formative years, was surrounded by musicians and producers, which clearly had a lasting effect. He is now a multi-faceted talent, capable of playing the drums, trombone, piano, bass, guitar, harmonica, and SPD. To top it all off, Ookay produces all his own tracks and often features his own vocals.

Ookay currently resides in Los Angeles, California, where he focuses on music production. His most recent tour stop will be in Atlanta, Georgia on June 11th at District Atlanta. As things begin to open again, we look forward to witnessing him light up the stage as we “listen deep.”

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
