FANS CALL DISCO DONNIE THE “POOR MAN’S PASQUALE ROTELLA” AFTER HOSTING UBBI DUBBI – [READ]

Fans continue with negative comments after Disco Donnie made history by putting on the first festival back.

Around the same time Pasquale Rotella announced EDC Las Vegas would be ultimately be postponed until October, Disco Donnie successfully moved forward with Ubbi Dubbi. The festival saw 60,000 attendees spanning across two days. Fans had a lot to say about this bold move, with one fan even tweeting “You’ll always be #PoorMansPasqualeRotella in my book Donnie.”

Disco Donnie has been facing major backlash on social media since announcing that the festival would be moving forward. Many members of the EDM community felt it was still wildly unsafe to hold a massive festival during an ongoing pandemic, despite vaccinations rolling out. Donnie was apparently fueled by all the snide comments and name-calling, but the outcome speaks for itself.

Of course, Disco Donnie snapped right back at this remark, flashing his new favorite hashtag #FIRSTFESTIVALBACK. Whether you agree with the man or not, he has a point.

Although Ubbi Dubbi has come to an end, the Disco Donnie Twitter war doesn’t look like it’s slowing down any time soon. As he gears up to put on Sunset Music Festival in Tampa on Memorial Day weekend, there’s no doubt unfinished business will surface.

As for Pasquale, EDC might have been put on the back-burner, but Insomniac has a pretty stacked festival lineup this summer. Insomniac will bring III Points x Secret Project to Miami this weekend, Skyline to Orlando Memorial Day weekend, and Forbidden Kingdom to Orlando in June.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
