INSOMNIAC’S ABDUCTION FESTIVAL FACES BACKLASH AFTER FOOTAGE REVEALS MISSED COVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS – [READ]

INSOMNIAC UNDER SCRUTINY AS VIDEOS CIRCULATE

Insomniac’s most recent attempt at re-vamping festival productions did not go as planned earlier this month. Although the crowd at Abduction Festival was eager to head bang and the line up featured heavy hitters such as Diplo, Virtual Riot, Tchami, Barely Alive, 4B b2b Flosstradamus, Dirty Audio and many more, the event was unfortunately canceled mid production due to inclement weather.

Festival goers were initially bummed about the adverse and sudden turn of events, however, the internet eventually told another story. Twitter’s zoomers had a field day, circulating footage of the festival that blatantly demonstrated a lack of safety precautions. Attendees were seen wandering the grounds of the festival not wearing masks, not social distancing, not minding any and all pandemic-related common sense. Per usual, Twitter wasted no time calling out insomniac and all those in attendance.

In addition to scrutinizing the festival for its lack of safety mindfulness, the vultures descended further, addressing the festival’s banal, lackluster spectacle, which was uncharacteristic for Insomniac. Prior to Covid, Insomniac absolutely dominated the space of festival production, throwing events with elaborate and whimsical ground designs, art installations, and clever engineering of space and technology. This festival fell flat in its reviews, most notably because it was hosted within an asphalt parking lot, lacking any design or thoughtfulness. The bleak weather also added to the look of gloom and doom, and overall it was less than desirable.

Although this event saw and early end and harsh reviews, Insomniac’s track record of throwing spectacular festivals – from EDC to Okeechoobee to Electric Forest – is too steeped in clout. Historically, the production company is known for being the best in the game and we look forward to attending their events in the future, not in thunderstorms, worldwide plagues, or strange parking lots. Insomniac has given us all some of the best nights and moments of our lives – we look forward to the future, and don’t doubt they’ll do it again.

In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
