EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE BASSNECTAR LAWSUIT – [READ]

The prolific DJ/Producer has just been served a massive lawsuit for human trafficking and sexual abuse

After a number of allegations of sexual misconduct arose last summer it seems more news has surfaced that is putting Bassnectar in hot water. On April 5th, Philadelphia attorneys Brian Kent, Stewart Ryan, and Alexandria MacMaster of Laffey, Bucci & Kent, LLP, and Nashville attorney Phillip Miller of Miller Law Offices filed a lawsuit against Lorin Ashton, professionally known as Bassnectar.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Rachel Ramsbottom and Alexis Bowling, two women who came forward with their own accounts against Bassnectar. The women reported that Ashton “groomed and ultimately exploited” them when they were minors, persuaded them into sending illicit photos and participating in sexual activities in exchange for money.

According to the lawsuit, Ashton first acted as a mentor and father-figure for the two women, which led to controlling relationships where he would fly them to shows and lure them into his hotel. He would then allegedly have mandated unprotected intercourse, to which he would then give them cash afterward, ranging from $300 to $1600.

“It was abundantly clear that Bassnectar was targeting and engaging in commercial sex acts with minors and utilizing his shows and organizations to accomplish the exploitation of young girls for his own sexual gratification,” the suit filed by Philadelphia-based law firm Laffey, Bucci & Kent states.

The suit also addressed Amorphous Music, Inc., Bassnectar Touring, Inc., Redlight Management, Inc., C3 Presents, L.L.C, and Interactive Giving Fund, all of which have an affiliation with the DJ/Producer. According to the suit, it is said that the companies addressed would have known of Ashton’s actions and need to be held accountable for not intervening.

Many do not see the lawsuit as a surprise considering the number of women who came forward in June of 2020 to denounce the artist of his evil past. The Instagram account, @evidenceagainstbassnectar, served as a platform for people to submit their previous experiences with the artist, which gained a large following that did not favor Ashton. Shortly after, Bassnectar announced that he would be stepping back from music and leaving the music industry indefinitely.
